The ultimate fashion 'musthave'!

It's not a dress, neither is it a shoe, jewelry, bag or any other accessory. It is the key to other fashion 'musthaves' right now. What is it? I've just got to tell you the story first.

I was at a magazine vendor not long ago, looking through the magazines displayed with minimum enthusiasm when a particular glossy volume caught my eye. Of course it was a magazine and one of superior quality. It was named MANIA but then came the dilemma.

'It has got to be foreign,' I thought! 'But what was it doing at the local magazine section?' I had to ask. Then I took a closer look at the stunning picture and recognize our very own Modupe Ozolua on the cover. 'OMG! I think its Nigerian' and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!

Not long after came the subsequent issue with a  lovely photograph of former miss world Agbani Darego on the cover. (You can't miss those cheekbones anywhere!) I compulsively threaded through the Opebi traffic to get one and I didn't regret it.

So, that ultimate fashion 'musthave' is Mania magazine! Mania magazine is a fashion magazine that launched on the 20th of February 2011 and it cost only N1000. Yay! It is a first of its kind. The magazine's approach to fashion and style is exceptional, daring and intense. It's also interactive because it feels like I share some kind of relationship with the writers and photographers and see things vividly through their eyes. Although, it reminds me of international renowned magazine, Vogue, Mania is still very much unique and African.

Mania magazine is published by professional photographer Kelechi Amadi Obi and his meticulous signature is reflected all over the pages. From the thoughtfully taken photographs, to the quality graphics and the creative writing. Also, the editor, Dimeji Alara does a great job. The elaborate fashion pages like 'There's a hippie on the highway', 'Fit for the falls', 'Istanbul adventure' and the style sections open my mind to the creative world of fashion around me.

Not forgetting the travel contents like, 'Goree island and 'From turkey with love' which made me fall in love with turkey and Senegal. I love travel so 'Explore Zaria' and 'Fit for the falls' made me feel like packaging my bags immediately. Even the adverts in the magazine seduce me! *lol*.

Also, the runway pages that featured up to date designs of Bunmi Koko, Deola Sagoe, Bridget Awosika, Iteun basi, Jewel by lisa and Ejiro Amos Tafiri was simply fascinating. Each time I'm reading through the magazine I'll be like, "stop don't finish everything, keep some for later." :D. I know right!

So now you know why I feel  Mania magazine is a fashion 'musthave' right now. I wonder if I'm the only one that's crazy about it. Maybe you could get one and leave a comment to tell me what you think. In the meantime, here's to Mania Magazine for breaking the boundaries!
