This week on Fashion and Style on Unilag 103.1FM, Saturdays 6pm

Looks of The Week
This week we've got plenty gorgeous looks from the Cannes Festival and (gasps) guess those who mistakenly revealed more than they had planned to...Plus who's your best dressed this week?

Jessica Chastain at the Cannes Festival in a Givenchy deep purple jeweled gown and matching ankle strap sandals. I love the colour, the embellishment at the right places is working well to make her look curvier. I love the strap and the scoop neckline, it just works so well with the dress. The sandals are also lovely. Ankle straps are so simple, chic and versatile that you can just pick one out for various types of events without going wrong with them.

Rosario Dawson was also at the Cannes Festival. She's in a sequined gold Marchesa gown and elaborate silver cuff. I love Marchesa. Their dresses are one of a kind but I do not like this dress on Rosario. I think the puffy sleeves just don't work. I like the mixture of gold and silver though. For you guys who think that gold and silver cannot be combined in one outfit. Not true. Its about finding a balance.

Next at the Cannes festival is french actress and Oscar winner, Marion Cotillard who's wearing a strapless silk dress from Dior in white, black, blue and yellow. I like the free flow of the dress. Nice. Shes also wearing pointey toe Dior shoes and Chopard jewelry.

Jessica Biel at the Cannes Festival. She looks so amazing in this Marchesa tea length dress. I loooove it. Now this is the Marchesa I love. Rosario take a cue from this ;) Jess is also wearing a Marchesa purse, shoe and necklace, all in similar shades. I like everything except from the serpentine necklace. I don't like snaky things. What do you think?

Jennifer Lawrence, we know her from the movie Hunger Games. She's in a strapless white Christian Dior with side peplum having a bit of a floral detail. It was nice of her to have paired it with this pink pointey toe shoes.

Also in a white dress this week was Selena Gomez at the Billboard Music Awards and in Jimmy Choo metallic shoes. Her dress has this asymmetric cut out on the bodice and an obvious side slit. Along with the accents of neon colours, I think this is very stylish and age appropriate for Selena.

The Beautiful Nina Dubrev of Vampire Dairies. Yeah Elena. She was at the CW upfront in an Azzaro cocktail dress with keyhole detail with a black purse and strappy sandals. I love keyhole details, they are this holes that come at the bust area of some clothes just like this. Splendid

Zoe Saldana in a silver and grey printed trouser suit with black and white pointey toe heels at an event for SiriusXM satellite radio. The trend keeps rolling. We've been seeing suits every week for like the past 4 weeks or so and I certainly adore this one Zoe is putting on.

Solange Knowles wore Diane Von Furstenberg popularly known as DVF. It's a coral leaf print jump suit which if she had worn in the 70s, would have made a lot of sense. But it looks like total crap. I love the prints but the fly is so high for a loose fitting jumpsuit that it makes it look like she's got bow legs. Clothes should help you look better sister not otherwise.

Damilola Adegbite former Tinsel actress, who marked her 28th birthday recently and decided to take this steamy picture of herself. Would you take this picture for your birthday? Does she look hot or not?
Speaking of revealing bodies, Rosario Dawson flashed her crotch at the Cannes Festival and we could see her underwear. She was still lucky. Eva Longoria flashed her crotch at the Cannes Festival on Saturday as she lifted her long slitted dress because it was raining. Unlike Rosario she wasn't wearing any panties (opps). That's why you have to be careful ladies when it come to very long slitted dresses. You want to look elegant all the way so choose a dress with a slit that you can handle.

What's Trending
This week's trend centres on what to wear and what not to wear when you are pregnant. Not so fast! If you are not pregnant you still need this. Of course pregnant women can rock trends and look hot no matter what. But there can be 'complications'. Here's how to dress fabulously when you are pregnant.

First of all, high waist dresses are cool in the first few months of pregnancy. In fact, this is your chance to rock this look 'cos soon after you'll only be stuck with empire waistline dresses and tops. Dresses without waistlines are equally cool at this stage. Halle Berry, Kim K and Kate Middleton are evidenvce

You would want to stay away from taut or tight dresses as your tummy gets larger. Then invest in dresses or blouses that are a bit loose, soft and free flowing like the pink dress Kim K is wearing which is cinched around the high waist. This is comfortable and chic.
We know cut outs and peek-a-boo outfits are in season but wear them wisely. You don't have to go all the way to reveal your whole tummy like Kim K. If you really want some see-through clothes try Halle Berry's more glamorous approach to wearing cut outs.

Like kim k, choose to cover up sometimes. It can be extremely elegant. But we understand that you get hot most times so you can also go for more open clothes.

Avoid clothes that are very voluminous. Hello, you are pregnant already. There's enough volume. Don't add more.

Finally, sometimes traditionally they say pregnant women in some parts of Nigeria shouldn't wear black but black actually helps to hide volume. But if you can't do black you can opt for other dark colours like midnight blue and the likes.

  6. Rosario dawson and eva longoria probably wanted the attention that they got, to me its no coincidence. Shouldnt one have learnt from the other to be careful with such a long slitted dress?
